The Individual Has No Control Over The Content Of Experiences

Awareness naturally manifests Itself as the universe, and the universe flows forth spontaneously with all sorts of experiences.

I, as an apparently existing individual, have no control over the experiences that arise. Thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and sense perceptions all arise spontaneously and subside just as spontaneously.

Therefore, any attempt that I, as an apparently existing individual, make to change my experiences will be doomed to failure. And I, as an apparently existing individual, will suffer.

For this reason, the essence of meditation is just letting every experience flow however it does. Since I, as an apparently existing individual, have no control over the kind of objective experiences, the duration of any experience, the sequence in which experiences appear, and so on, I simply let be.

When I let be, though, I do so from my stand as Witnessing Awareness. This is the elegant understanding that reveals itself right here: although I have no control over whatever is unfolding, I do have the freedom to simply be the silent Awareness that I truly am anyway.

I, Witnessing Awareness, notice that the body relaxes and the mind releases tension. The flinching of the mind slowly subsides. The body-fist gently opens up. While I, Awareness, am not the body or the mind (at this level of understanding), the relaxation of my very Being begins to naturally pervade the bodymind instrument.

Meditation, then, is just being Myself. Just being Myself, I let all experiences flow as they do. As a consequence, any residue of resistance, of fight, of struggle, of worry or concern drains away from the bodymind instrument.
