The chief point about the nature of happiness is that it’s inherent in the nature of awareness.
While it may seem as if happiness is attendant upon the satisfaction of a desire, in truth happiness is revealed just when seeking ceases.
One of my dogs loves the smell of fresh food. He gets antsy in the morning when he doesn’t food being made. And yet, just when his restlessness ends, he relaxes into the happiness of being.
The same is true for us. Happiness is not contingent upon a desire being met; it shines forth when there’s the direct realization of the desirelessness that is at the very heart of our being.
Therefore, stop making this error and be happiness itself.
