The first point to establish is that awareness is.
Consider the fact that seeing–that is, reading these words–is appearing right now. Then ask yourself, “Am I aware of reading right now?” Open directly to the experience of being aware of seeing. Now, place greater emphasis on I am aware and much less emphasis on of these words.
Verify: is the awareness that’s aware of these words the very same awareness that’s aware of, for instance, any sound that’s currently appearing? Open to seeing, then to hearing, and check: same awareness? Again, open to seeing, then to hearing: same awareness?
Confirm that the answer is yes.
The second point to establish is that I am awareness.
If I ask you, “Are you aware?,” you’ll open directly to the experience of simply being aware. Stay here and ask yourself: “Is the experience of I, myself, the same as or different from the experience of simply being aware?” Really explore this question. Try, in fact, to prise being aware apart from the simple experience of I. Can you?
No.
Awareness is, and you are awareness. You are not the body, the senses, or the mind.
Be awareness knowingly. Be what you are. Be exactly as you are.
